Curriculum Vitae Of Ernesto “Ernie” R. Moreira began his career as a Police Officer with the City of Miami Police Department in 1979. In 1981, he became a detective in the Criminal Investigations Section (CIS) of the Miami Police Department. In 1982, Mr. Moreira attended the National Polygraph Institute. There, he was trained on the Backster Zone Comparison polygraph method. Mr. Moreira utilizes the Backster Zone Comparison, adhering to the guidelines of the Federal Psycho-physiological Detection of Deception standards, as taught by the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute. He became one of the first Spanish-speaking polygraph examiners within the ranks of the Miami Police Department. As a Polygraph Examiner with the Miami Police Department, Mr. Moreira administered hundreds of criminal polygraph examinations (in English and Spanish) in cases of homicide, robbery, sexual battery, theft and other criminal offenses. Mr. Moreira has been consistently successful in securing admissions to crimes after the polygraph examinations were administered. These admissions lead to the successful prosecution and conviction of the perpetrators. Additionally, Mr. Moreira conducted numerous polygraph examinations for the Internal Affairs Section of the City of Miami Police Department. Mr. Moreira has testified before the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office as well as the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office regarding polygraph matters. As of April of 2004, Mr. Moreira is an honorably retired Police Captain of the Miami Police Department. Presently, Mr. Moreira is the Director of Polygraph Services with the Investigative firm of Roger P. Gibson, Inc., in Coral Gables, Florida. He conducts civil and criminal polygraph examinations as a private sector polygraph examiner. |
